![]() Trust me when I say I have a very long day too. I also spray my face with a setting spray once all of my makeup is complete and I’ve never had a problem with this breaking down or wearing off throughout the day. Once I apply the product and get it blended out, I go over the highlight with a translucent powder to set it and I go over the contour with another contour powder to set that. ![]() I’ve read a lot of people have issues with this product lasting all day and my question for those people is, do you set this product with a powder? I always always always set cream products with a powder and this is no exception. It’s very creamy and easy to blend and if you know anything about highlighting and contouring then you know the key to using cream products is to blend blend blend and of course setting it is always a good thing too! That’s another thing I wanted to mention. The stick itself is very easy to use and I think it is a great product for beginners. I actually only use a tiny amount of it in very strategic places because I don’t want to use too much and look like a disco ball exploded on my face! I definitely don’t apply too much of it because, like I said, I’m not a big shimmer person. The shimmer in the highlight is subtle, it’s not overwhelming which is what I was worried about. I do think the light would work better because it’s supposed to be more of a taupe color and I’m thinking it will probably have more of a pink undertone to it than yellow which is what I would prefer. I definitely can see the yellow in the contour shade but it isn’t too yellow and surprisingly works with my skin. I am actually quite pleased with the universal shade but I do think I am going to pick up the light one on my next trip to Ulta. I went with universal because I really wanted to see how much shimmer the highlight had to it which probably wasn’t a great choice since I’m not a big shimmer person. My complexion is very light with pink undertones so I knew I either needed to go with the light option or universal. Universal is also supposed to be the one that works the best with any skintone. Universal is the only one where the highlight has some sort of shimmer to it, the other three highlights are all matte. According to NYX’s website, light is a neutral/taupe, medium is a light with pink undertones along with a yellow brown with slightly red undertones, deep is a medium beige with slightly yellow undertones accompanied by a brown with yellow and slight red undertones, and last but not least universal is a light neutral with shimmer and a yellow brown with slight red undertones. The Wonder Stick comes in 4 different shades, light, medium, dark, and universal. It is called the Wonder Stick and it is a dual-ended highlight and contour stick that is great for every day but would be really awesome for travel too. NYX came out with an awesome product a few years ago that I had never tried and since I learned how to contour I wanted to pick it up. You have to be careful in the jawline and chin area as you can make yourself look like you have a 5 o’clock shadow which is definitely not the look we’re going for. The areas that you typically want to contour are along your hairline on your forehead, the sides of your nose, under your cheekbones, and under the jawline and chin. When you contour, you’re basically creating a shadow and kind of (for lack of a better word) sinking in certain areas of the face which will make them appear smaller. You’re pushing the areas that you highlight forward which makes them look larger and kind of “pop” more. These areas include the middle of your forehead, down the bridge of your nose, under your eyes (where you put concealer), and on top of your cheekbones. When you highlight, you’re basically bringing more light to certain areas of the face. ![]() ![]() It also adds depth and definition to the face and there are some pretty cool things that you can accomplish when you know how to highlight and contour properly. For those of you not familiar with highlighting and contouring, it basically creates the illusion of a stronger, more sculpted jawline, chiseled cheeks and a slimmer nose. I recently have learned how to highlight and contour with powders and wanted to learn how to do the same with cream products. NYX Cosmetics can be purchased from Ulta or their website, Target, some CVS, some Charlotte Russe (I just learned about this), and of course there’s always NYX’s website! You can get really awesome products with a really small price tag which is definitely a score in my book. One of the best things about this brand is that their products are typically high quality and really great but the prices are pretty much drugstore prices. NYX is one of my absolute favorite brands of makeup.
